Small satellites are becoming more popular by the day and a weight saving in structure is worth its weight in gold, as satellites usually have a weight ceiling. Lighter structures allow a heavier payload to be carried.

The space team at Kunststoffverarbeitung Hoffmann has focused on lightweight products for small satellites in recent years.

Using our many years of expertise in injection molding polymers, we have developed an injection mold that produces a CubeSat structure from space-qualified material.

The extremely stable structure is at least 20 percent lighter than comparable aluminum structures that are currently standard.

The intelligent design offers diverse and practical options for integrating the payload.

Thanks to already integrated lightweight unlocking mechanisms based on shape memory alloys (SMA) in the structure, the use of our structure is particularly practical!
